COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS
PARTNERSHIP WITH FIRST RESPONDERS
Repurposing underutilized land within the airport property would mean significantly improved facilities for regional first responders. These facilities currently have a life-saving application to the region in the event of fires and natural disasters but there is room for improvement.
Banning Municipal Airport’s location is critical for providing a timely response in fire suppression efforts:
Banning Municipal Airport was recently used in fire suppression operations during the following local fires:
Apple Fire in August 2020
Cranston Fire in July 2018
Site can house a first responder Emergency Operation Center
Site will have buildings that can be used as alternate evacuation centers in future emergencies
STATE OF THE ART TRAINING FACILITY FOR POLICE & FIRE DEPARTMENTS
Grandave Studios would enable the City of Banning to have access to unique and state-of-the-art training facilities where the Banning Police Department and the Banning Fire Department could use studio facilities for realistic, scenario-based Active Shooter, SWAT, CPR/First Aid and fire suppression training:
Use of actors (both professional and from internships with local high school/colleges) for realistic, scenario-based training
Use of studio facilities for responding to fires (actual studio-generated/controlled fires)
Use of studio wardrobe and make-up professionals for scenario-based training and treating minor/major (simulated) "injuries" such as burns, compound fractures, gunshot wounds, etc.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND INTERNSHIPS
Grandave Studios at Banning has a rich tradition in developing partnerships with the local community. The project will create opportunities for high school and college-level internships for students interested in the film industry. These partnerships will include the study of many aspects of film, including directing, acting, and video / audio editing.
